Young individuals who were on 'student status' were previously not allowed to work in the U.A.E. However, MOHRE issued Ministerial Resolution No. 713 of 2016 on Student Employment and Training in June 2016. This enables students to work and to be educated in operating establishments or establishments licensed for training purposes.

1. Work permits of juveniles

Students between 15 and 18 years of age are permitted to work on the basis of the aforementioned resolution and are granted temporary work permits for juveniles. Emiratis and expatriate youths with a work permit can be recruited to work on projects for up to six months. There are also work permits for those who choose to work fewer hours over a year.

2. Training permits for juveniles, programs and (the availability of online requests)

Students over 12 years of age and under 18 years of age are granted training permits by MOHRE with the intention of receiving training. However, it requires the written consent of the student's guardian.

MOHRE has introduced an online training program for students which enables them to enroll for training purposes in the private sector.

In addition, this free form can be found on the website of the Ministry and at the Service Centre of Tas'heel in its 'Wajjehni' Smart Device App, which is available on iTunes, Google Play and BlackBerry World.

The training program will last for a period of three months from the starting date. Before it is signed, the contract must be sent to MOHRE for authorization from both ends. To process the company's request to enroll students, the eSignature card is considered to be necessary.

In all cases of student employment, in terms of all entitlements and benefits, they must be considered ordinary employees who work in identical circumstances.
